My Technique
The secret to any great photo is a comfortable and relaxed subject. That’s why pets and babies and drunk people always look so awesome in photos-- they just don’t give a fuck about the camera. I try my hardest to help each of my clients achieve that drunk puppy euphoria during our sessions. No fancy lights, no studio set ups, no preconceived ideas about what your photos should look like. My sessions are all about capturing the many, many facets of YOU. I spend a lot of time talking with my clients, before and during sessions-- some of my greatest shots happen when a client is in the middle of telling me a funny story or explaining their newest project. When a client is out of their head and focused on something they’re passionate about, their entire body reflects that. I shoot almost exclusively with natural light, mainly in my own living room, so it’s impossible not to feel like you’re just hanging out at a friend’s house. Ultimately, I hope all of my clients leave my sessions feeling energized, excited, and maybe even a little more in love with who they are and what they do.

My business is based almost entirely on word of mouth. If you love your photos, please spread the word to your pals! For up to 9 months after your shoot, if you refer a client to me, I will pay you $50! Think of how many slices of dollar pizza you could buy with that!! (don’t think too hard: the answer is 50)

Payment
I currently only accept cash or checks made out to “Julia Sherman”. Please be ready to pay at the beginning of your session.
Rescheduling/Cancellation Policy
Since I don’t take a deposit, I kindly request that any rescheduling or cancellations be made no later than 48 hours ahead of time. All reschedules and cancellations made after 48 hours may be subject to a $50 fee.
What to bring to your shoot
Bring a variety of looks, but don’t bring your entire closet! There are a lot of rules out there about what colors and patterns you should or shouldn’t wear in a photoshoot, but I say screw em. Bring options that reflect who you are-- I have plenty of clients who use photos of themselves in less “traditional” headshot looks for their website or professional Facebook page. The best piece of advice I can give clients regarding outfits is bring looks they love and feel awesome in. It’s always smart to check in with your agent or manager before a shoot, too, to see if there are any specific looks they want you to have.
Please arrive on time! Give yourself a 10-15 minute cushion when figuring out how much time you'll need to get here.
I also recommend bringing comfortable shoes, a couple of snacks, and a Spotify playlist. And, obviously, a good attitude!!

The Nitty Gritty
All images are copywrited by Julia K Sherman Photography.
Session fees are required at the beginning of a session, unless other arrangements have been arranged.
Only bring those people being photographed to the session. There is no other photography allowed from family and driends within during the portrait session.
Basic retouching is included in most session packages. Selections for retouching must be submitted no later than 21 days after receving proofs, or they will be subject to the normal retouch rate. Please allow an additional 21 days for retouches to be finished.
Julia K Sherman Photography reserves the right to use images for any and all sessions for the purpose of advertisement and promotion, unless otherwise noted.
